what you'll need

To ensure you have the best experience on an AlaskaChallenge Guide Service hunt the following packing lists have been created. The Alaska climate and terrain can test your equipment, so we recommend you bring quality gear.  Nothing ruins a trip like inferior gear.

Packing list

Clothing

  • Set of travel clothes

Camp & Hunting clothes (cotton clothing is not recommended)

  • 3 boxers/briefs
  • 3 tee shirts
  • 5 Pair of socks
  • 3 long sleeve shirts
  • 3 Pair of hunting pants
  • 2 Pair of long johns
  • 1 wool hat or warm stocking hat
  • 2 pairs of gloves
  • 1 Gortex rain jacket
  • 1 Warm jacket for boat travel
  • 1 pair of lace up hiking boots
  • 1 camp shoes
  • 1 pair quality knee high rubber boots
  • 1 pair Gortex chest or hip waders
  • For early spring hunts snow-machine gear may be needed.
  • Sleeping bag-zéro degree sleeping bag or mummy bag
  • Backpack or day pack for person items

Gear

  • 2 water proof duffle bags (no suitcases)
  • 1 Headlamp
  • 1 Binoculars
  • 1 Personal toiletry kit, any medical supplies needed, wash cloth & towel
  • 1 Pair of Trekking Pole or walking stick
  • 1 Additional pair of eyeglasses (If necessary)
  • 1 Pair of Sunglasses
  • 1 Pocket Folding Knife
  • 1 Camera
  • Rifle with scope and soft gun case for daily use
